Autumnal Equinox and New Moon in Libra!!

Equinox means equal and is the time when daylight and darkness are of the same length. Therefore it is fitting that the Autumnal Equinox has the Sun moving into Libra, the very archetype that embodies the idea of harmony. This is one of two moments in the solar cycle where we are in fact at our most balanced and it is actually energetically easiest to recognize the mirrored consciousness in our Selves because the archetypal system is quite literally reflecting (forgive the pun, or not) this idea.

This event signals the need to balance light and darkness within ourselves. Far too often, we fear the dark and adore only the light. But living a conscious life demands an appreciation of the Shadow; we must embrace the grief that comes when we allow for the death that Winter will bring in order for the resurrection of Spring that will surely follow. This moment is the signpost of our acceptance of this profound rhythm of a world that can only exist through the alternating expansion and contraction that is the pulse through which we have our Being. Such is the power of the Equinox which occurred last night at 7:30pm PDT.

We live in such a difficult time in our history where darkness, destruction and chaos are all around us and appear to be increasing. As spiritual trekkers, we are encouraged to see only the Light. But of course, in order to truly do this with authenticity, we must be courageous enough to be with the Shadow. You cannot truly inhabit your own Light until you are graceful with the darkness that accompanies it. In my world view and what I teach is to do this symbolically and ritually. For certain, I encourage you NOT to do this by watching the news and bemoaning how much darkness there is out in the world. I instruct my readers and clients to do this with personal process, dream work and ritual.

This lunation is all about setting intentions and sewing seeds of the next cycle fully immersed in the mirrored consciousness and the notion that Love is all there is. Before attending to that, however, spend some time investigating the darker corners of your psyche. If you need a suggestion to get you jump-started, write a fear list. Then burn it and follow it up with a gratitude list. These simple but powerful tools can work miracles, especially when they are energetically supported as they are in this dynamic time.

The close proximity of this New Moon in Libra with the Autumnal Equinox is auspicious indeed. It indicates an opportunity to set off a new cycle at the very same time that we are stepping across one of the most significant thresholds of consciousness that is part of our Solar Year. Yesterday’s post should have given you a very clear sense of what the Equinox has to offer you. Today we will examine both today’s astrological weather and the power built into this particular lunation that is exact at 11:13pm PDT tonight, September 23, 2014 (overnight for those of you in the east and overseas and Wednesday late afternoon for those of you down under).

Jupiter moved into the sign of Leo a few months back and is busy making his way through this archetype of joy and creativity. He is bringing his particular brand of expansion and abundance to these aspects of our humanity. This is a delightful passage that will carry us through next summer and we are all promised a great deal of good fortune as a result. Of course, we have to be able to receive our Good in order for it to stick and today features an aspect designed to assist us to do just that. Jupiter will interact with Chiron the Master Healer in the angle known as the Great Eliminator, or the 150 degree Inconjunct.

Jupiter is the archetype through which we achieve our dreams. As a Social Planet, he activates that which we experience in the outside world. As the purveyor of all that expands and gets bigger, he is directly connected to having our desires made manifest. An Inconjunct with Chiron is a moment when we are discarding a pattern of our wounded nature that may be getting in the way of achieving all we can. Sometimes this comes in the form of having to consciously let go of something we have held dear in order to attain it more authentically later on down the line. Be prepared to let go of ALL your expectations of how you think your life should unfold. Though this can be painful, it is a necessary part of growing up into a more enlightened version of yourself.

There are several things about this day that are particularly profound. All lunar celebrations are of the Divine Feminine, for the Moon is the arbiter of that half of our consciousness. The Void Moon – that in-between state where the she has made her last major geometrical connection and the time she changes signs – is a long one today; sixteen hours in all from around 5:00am to 9:00pm PDT. That means we are steeped in the inner domain of the Divine Feminine energy as we lead up to the lunation that happens two hours after the Moon moves into Libra late tonight. Additionally, the final geometry that creates this particular Void is the Moon Conjunct Venus, which is about as Heart Centered as you can get. In the sign of Virgo, today is ALL about process and incorporating the Heart’s Intelligence into our Being at a cellular level. It’s a glorious day for honoring the coming into balance and harmony with our total, integrated Selves: Light and dark, the good and the seemingly bad.

If you want to be ambitious about how to work with this particular New Moon my recommendation would be to create a mandala; a circular map, if you will, of the life you are creating. Put your intentions and seed-planting consciousness into visual form and let this process be very artistic and irrational. You can find ideas of how to do this if you’ve never made one all over the internet. Here’s a basic approach based on the principles of astrology. Make a circle and divide it into four equal quadrants. The bottom left is the first quadrant and should represent the self in relationship to itself. The bottom right is the self in relationship to your environment. The top right is the self in relationship to others and the top left is the self in relationship to the outside world. Use words if you like, images if you are drawn to collage work (like a vision board) or even just colors and movement. The end result is designed to reflect your Self (with a capital S) as a function of balanced and harmonious consciousness (including elements from the Shadow such as fear and resistance).

No matter how you celebrate, recognize this as the cycle in which you acknowledge the Shadow and the Light with equal reverence. And remember always the foundational principle of the Mirrored Consciousness: Seek first the kingdom within and all else will be added unto you. The salient word in that prayer is ALL. Anything that you desire must first exist within you before you can attract it to you in the outside world. When we work with the Shadow and the parts of our consciousness where we may be saying no to our good, we can clean that up, incorporate those forms of resistance into our integrated Self and begin to attract all the good we can carry. Have at it!

Virgo Full Moon – Sunday March 16th!

The Virgo Moon is getting ready to oppose the Pisces Sun in what is possibly the most important Full Moon of each year. The Virgo/Pisces polarity is about bringing heaven on earth and the connection of Body (Virgo) to Spirit (Pisces). Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and is the archetype of the infinite field of pure potential that we create our lives from. Virgo is the energy that knows how to turn that energy into form. This Full Moon helps us know that same intelligence as a part of ourselves.

The Full Moon is exact at 10:07am PDT on Sunday morning (for those of you overseas, that’s 5:00pm in London and 7:07pm in Pretoria. For those of you down under, the exact moment in Sydney is in the wee hours of Monday morning at 4:07am) but once the Moon is in Virgo (which it is now), we are building toward the vibration in earnest, making this entire weekend filled with lunar power. The essence of all Full Moons relates to the harvest, where we get to reap the benefit of all the work we’ve been putting in to expanding our consciousness. But remember that part of the crop we yield is that which is left behind; the chaff and other inedible materials. In keeping with the farming metaphor, this excess substance is cast off and ultimately decomposes into nutrients that fertilize the next crop. Such is the way with the things in consciousness that we leave behind. The patterns we let go of, the resentments we drop and the forgiveness we engage in all allow for this natural progression to occur. What we release today feeds what we sew tomorrow.

There are a number of Mercury calibrations that are part of this Full Moon. Mercury is still wrapping up his retrograde cycle, so there is a direct connection with this lunation and the insights and integrations that occurred by virtue of him making those triple transits that happen every time he goes retrograde. His is just days away from being in his free and clear period where there is no retrograde in sight for several months. Today’s aspects are the very last ones that will hearken back to things that came up in late January and February. Look for issues that came up in the past seven weeks to be wrapping up now.
Mercury will Trine the North Node and Sextile the South Node. This is a transit that helps us process the past in order to move into the future. The Nodes are an opposition that represents our past and our future, our Kharma and Dharma. This aspect divides that opposition into two easily digestible parts, with an energy that allows us to productively understand the stuff we are moving away from (a Sextile to the South Node) and easily move toward the new future we are creating (a Trine to the North Node). This Full Moon can absolutely reveal a great deal about what the past few months have allowed you to uncover, discover and discard. Just don’t try too hard to figure it out and let the wisdom reveal itself to you.

There is a slightly less intense Mercury aspect Sunday as well, a Semi-Square to Pluto. A Semi-Square is a mild conflict or obstacle that may come up and with Pluto being the object of Mercury’s affection, the issue may be one of authority. If you are still looking outside for the source of your power, this transit will make you very uncomfortable until you pull focus back where it belongs; on yourself.

About an hour after the exact moment of the Full Moon, the Sun will Inconjunct Mars who is freshly turned inward in his retrograde status. This is a fork in the road aspect that allows something to be carved off your consciousness and dropped along the way. Intend to let go of what no longer serves you today and this aspect will help you do so. The intense activity of Mercury almost guarantees that what you release will have something to do with thought patterns or communication issues (like that difficult conversation that it is finally time to have).

If you are fortunate enough to be free of any of these sorts of mental challenges, today may be a day where you let your plans change form. Remember that great vision is held with a mighty grip and open palms. We stay doggedly committed to our Heart’s Desire, but allow it to change on a dime as new information reveals itself to us. This is also one way that this Full Moon may occur for you.

The Virgo Moon is always benefited by anything that would fall under the auspices of “process.” And since Virgo rules the physical body in motion, anything that gets your body moving would be an ideal way to begin to prepare for receive the energy of this Full Moon. Take a walk, do some yoga, go on your favorite hike, exercise vigorously. Get your body going and let your Mind take the weekend off. In fact, I wouldn’t devote any of your time to figuring out what you are releasing as much as I would set the intention to release what is ready to be dropped and then go for a long run. The body (and the sign of Virgo) knows what to do without our help.

New Moon In Aquarius Thursday January 30th!

This New Moon is the second one during the month of January and is therefore known as the Black Moon. This is similar to the Blue Moon where there are two Full Moons in a calendar month. There is some precedent in some Pagan cultures for imbuing such a lunation with more power because of this fortuitous occurrence. I cannot speak with any authority as to whether this is true or not, but the accompanying transits give this event some real oomph and I love an opportunity to raise the stakes with regard to any ritual celebration of the lunar cycle you may be up for.

One of the big pictures brewing in the sky this week is the second Pluto Jupiter Opposition that is exact on Friday; close enough to this New Moon to be fully participating in it. The Sun Sextiled Uranus yesterday, literally sandwiching today’s event from the other side. These two geometries are considerable and are very much a part of what is available to you through this seed-planting and intention setting moment in our cycle.

Jupiter represents all the ways in which we desire life to be expansive and delicious. At the heart of this is the notion that Abundance is our birthright and we live in a Universe that is happy to fill us up at every moment. However, we don’t necessarily dwell in this space all of the time. The mechanism of life works through a pulse of contraction and expansion. We must learn to work within this pulse without feeling a moment of contraction through reactivity and fear, declaring that the worst is occurring and all is futile.

Here’s where Pluto comes in. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld and while that may sound ominous, even he is on the side of expansion, abundance and the world as a yummy place to be. However, his bailiwick is in the arena of change, transformation and the breakdown that precedes the breakthrough. When Jupiter and Pluto get together in this opposing posture, they are in what may appear to be a struggle with each other, but really it’s a cooperative dance. They are saying to us, change, grow and allow the death to occur so the resurrection that follows can be as magnificent as possible. It can be scary and may not always feel great, but trust me magnificent things are emerging.

These two Opposed each other at the beginning of August and they will do so again at the end of April as the primary polarity that will be holding up the Cardinal Grand Cross. Because of Jupiter’s retrograde in Cancer, this interaction is taking nine months to unfold and if we let it, can helps us birth enormous expansion into our Heart’s desires. This New Moon is Inconjuncting Jupiter and Semi-Sextiling Pluto, the angle that implies a fork in the road where we leave behind something that no longer serves us. What this sets up for us is a chance to set intentions that allow us to let go of something that is blocking us from our power to create. Use the late November timing to help direct your investigation.

Uranus is connected to the New Moon by virtue of the Sextile between him and the Sun yesterday. Since the Sun is in intuitive Aquarius, any opportunity to activate your intuition will pay off positive dividends. Uranus is no stranger to intuition in his role as the Great Awakener. A Sextile between two planets ensures that they will work together very effectively. When it exists between these two particular planets, it is destined to increase conscious awareness (the Sun) in sudden and unexpected ways (Uranus). So when looking to release some habit or pattern right now, this transit should help us know in which direction to turn.

Normally it is the Full Moon that allows us to release things and we use the New Moon to forge new directions, so be sure to link whatever you are willing to let go of with an intention you are setting with regard to what you are creating for yourself. This may require some thought. Ask yourself, “What would I have to release in order to create ________?” You fill in the blank, answer the question and then move into ceremony of simultaneous release and creation with the power of this New Moon.

The timing of the exact moment of this lunation is Thursday at 1:39pm PST. This correlates with 9:39pm in London, 11:39pm in Pretoria and Friday morning at 8:39am for those of you in near Sydney. As ever, the most fertile time is leading up to this exact moment, but truly the power of the New Moon reverberates for at least two or three days afterward. Since Aquarius is an Air sign, using the tool of writing is the most effective way to connect to the power that’s available. This is a wonderful opportunity to re-up your commitment to the glorious life you are manifesting. Commit your intentions to paper and let the big thrust of energy that 2014 is bringing to us take you on the ride of your life.

Full Moon In Cancer Conjunct Black Moon Lilith!

The Full Moon in Cancer is tonight at 8:52pm PST. That’s overnight in the wee hours in Europe and Africa and for those of you down under, it is exact Wednesday afternoon at 3:52pm. Cancer is ruled by the Moon and so this lunation has a particular power and beauty on an archetypal level. Everything that you associate with the Moon; emotions, changeability, cycles, feminine power, the shadow, the unconscious, will be magnified exponentially by her ruling sign. There is an even deeper resonance with the Divine Feminine connected with this particular Full Moon that offers us a chance to take a very deep dive into the shadow and emerge more integrated than ever.

But first, there are some planetary aspects to talk about today and both of them are Semi-Squares. Semi Squares foster growth and movement out of some underlying sense of things being not quite as they could be. They are one of the more subtle angles that, while not overt in the sensation they produce, provide the necessary friction to make some forward movement occur. In the case of this geometry between the Sun and Chiron, our conscious awareness expands to understand that a deeper healing can occur by honoring all of this Cancer energy in the atmosphere. This friction should encourage higher choices where putting yourself and your needs first is concerned.

Venus and Neptune also Semi-Square each other today. Whenever Venus and Neptune interact, Love is in the air. That is because both of these archetypes vibrate with Love; Venus on the personal level and Neptune on the trans-personal level. Another way of looking them is that together they connect us to the lower and higher octave of Love. When they interact in a way like this – which is agitated in nature but helpful for making higher choices – we benefit. This Full Moon is very much about recognizing how much healing has taken place over the past year or so. The fact that Venus is retrograde means that she has made this aspect before, so look back to November 25th for clues on how to interpret today’s energy.

The real juice behind this particular Full Moon is its proximity with Black Moon Lilith. The lunation is taking place exactly Conjunct this powerful point. In Jewish mysticism, Lilith was the first woman that God created, equal to Adam. She was found to be way too powerful and was cast aside and a far more subservient version was crafted from Adam’s rib. Enter Eve, looking equal, but far from it. Lilith, in her rage, became associated with the destructive feminine, not dissimilar from the Hindu God Kali. Only in Hindu she is revered instead of subjugated.

There is a mathematically calculated spot in space, about hallway between the Moon’s orbit and the Earth. This point is the archetypal home of the darkest shadowy parts of our humanity, that which is hidden and disowned, but POWERFULLY creative. It is named after Lilith and is also referred to as the Black Moon. When we don’t have a conscious relationship with this part of our nature, we create directly from it and chaos reigns. As we get to know the deepest recesses of our most fearsome corners, we are empowered to create consciously, because that which we fear the most is no longer free to run the show from beneath the surface of our consciousness.

The short version of what this means is that there is an opportunity to reclaim a fair amount of shadow material during this Full Moon and integrate more deeply the profound dark feminine power that is so needed right now. We have been terrified of this energy for thousands of years and it is now time to face the deep, wet places where all creation is birthed from without shrinking back from it. This Full Moon gives is a good opportunity to look at these shadowy depths.

This is not always easy to do because the shadow is, well, in the shadow. One of the most effective ways is to use creative means to connect to this place. Here is one way that I use in workshops all the time. Grab all your pens, pencils, crayons, etc. Create some sacred space and get quiet. Allow a painful or difficult situation to come to mind from the past or the present; the right and perfect one will appear. Then draw. Do not think too much about what you are doing, but allow the process to be as organic as you can. You may be surprised by what comes up. Be with your creation for a while, then burn it, bury it like a seed in the ground. Make sure to water it as well, for the Cancer archetype needs plenty of water to do her thing.

This is a great opportunity to dislodge some deeper stuff in a way that can’t be done with the rational mind. Give it a whirl during the power of this beautiful Full Moon and let your Heart sing even louder.

New Moon on New Year’s Eve!

New Year’s Eve is typically a holiday for setting intentions for the year we’re about to enter. The same is true for the New Moon. This year, we are treated to both at the same time. The Capricorn New Moon is exact just as this year gives way to next year in yet another in a long string of you-can’t-make-this-up synchronicities. Mercury and Pluto will also be participating in the New Moon event, making it a whopper in and of itself. The fact that it is a literal usher into the New Year is just the icing on the cake.

Capricorn is one of the Cardinal signs (think “start-up” energies), which makes this lunation part of the HUGE Cardinal Grand Cross that builds for the next ten months making 2014 a big year for fast-forward movement. We are truly starting off with a bang and how you approach your New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will make a big difference in how you receive the enormous energy that next year will bring.

Mercury and the Sun have been engaged in a dynamic dance this past week and each day has brought yet another layer of complexity to our awareness. These two planets are the very archetypes that allow us to perceive and understand what is happening in the world. We have to build that perception a little bit at a time. They came together by Conjunction this weekend and made several important transits along the way. When the planet that rules our conscious awareness (the Sun) aligns with the planet that rules our Mind (Mercury) we are treated to a level of clarity that we rarely get to enjoy.

This coming together of Mercury and the Sun is a frequent occurrence, but this particular version has two important distinctions which are significant not only for what this brings us right now, but for what it portends for the year to come. Of course, that they will both connect to a New Moon is one. In addition just as they met up this weekend they both Squared Uranus. Uranus is one of the anchors for the ongoing Square with Pluto and the Cardinal Grand Cross that’s building most of next year. Both of these patterns portend an enormous amount of movement and change. The type of change associated with Uranus is the lighting flash type of the sudden variety. This Square from the Sun and Mercury to Uranus offers clarity and awareness that can be directly poured into the big energies of next year.

Take a moment as you prepare for New Year’s Eve to understand where your life is right now and what you would like to create for yourself next year. All week, these two (Mercury and the Sun) have been building a comprehensive sense of the current landscape and this weekend’s activation ensures that the thoughts, ideas, issues and constructs that are bubbling up in consciousness now will be part of the cycles yet to come. You have all the clarity you could possibly need to do this in a concentrated and powerful way.

The New Moon in Capricorn happens at the same degree where Mercury and Pluto are right now so that seeds planted under this influence have both of their mojo attached. As they move about the cosmos in 2014, they will remember what you’ve communicated as your intentions this New Years. Mercury will keep the power of the Mind connected to what you create in consciousness and Pluto will ensure that you have the power necessary to change anything that needs shifting to more effectively manifest your Heart’s desires.

There are even more connections ramping up to this New Moon that are involved in big events of next year. Mars Squares Pluto on Monday the 30th, two days before the New Moon. Mars will return to this Square relationship a second time because of his retrograde motion next year and when that happens next April, it is the height of the Cardinal Grand Cross that is the big thrust of the year. With this transit, Mars connects to how we are embodying the spiritual principles through which we are attempting to guide our lives. The Square to Pluto is a power struggle that if used wisely can assist you in stepping more fully into your own personal power and authority like never before.

Whatever you intend, conscious or unconscious, is going to have legs. We have an unprecedented opportunity right now to use Mercury to guide our Minds and Pluto to come from a very deep place. If you approach this process with the proper alignment, you will be able to subjugate significant amounts of fear-based thoughts of lack and limitation that are normally too deep to be aware of. Asking to be free of limiting thoughts known AND unknown, conscious AND unconscious counts as an intention. There has never been a more important moment to be deeply intentional with your seed planting.

The exact moment of this New Moon is 3:15 am PST on January 1st. That correlates with 6:15am on the east coast of the US, 11:00am in London and 1:00pm in Pretoria, South Africa. To my reader’s down under, this is 10:15pm on Wednesday night. The most fertile time in any New Moon is in the hours leading up to its moment of exactness. If ever there were a New Year’s Eve where it was important to do some setting of intention, this is it! Capricorn is an earth sign, so I recommend using the ground as part of your ritual. Mercury is involved so writing things out will be well supported. Burying what you write as a literal seed of intention will take the practice to another level.

I strongly recommend that you tune in to my Astro-Overview on Sunday January 5th to see how all of these cycles are going to play out next year. CLICK BELOW to register today!

Winter Solstice in the North, Summer Solstice in the South!

The Winter Solstice in the northern Hemisphere occurs this weekend.  The exact moment is Saturday, December 21st at 9:11am PST.  The two solstices, when the day is the longest and the shortest, are like the lynch pins of our solar year.  As human beings, we experience every aspect of life itself as a function of any number of segments of binary code.  Breath is breath, but we breathe in and out.  We are either asleep or awake.  And the day is long or short, but we need both in order to encompass our passage through the ellipse of our orbit around the Sun.

We ARE the light that the Sun emanates.  Of course, we are too the Earth that receives that Light and bursts forth and buds.  We must always remember the Light that We Are; such is the foundation to any spiritual practice.  This is easier to do at the Summer Solstice because we are reveling in the longest day of the year where the sheer amount of sunlight lifts us up and reminds us of our true identity.  The Winter Solstice requires much more of a leap of Faith.

When the Light is the least we must find inspiration in the dark, remembering that the Light will return once again.  Christmas Trees are a great part of this tradition, as are the lights of Hanukah.  The tree is a symbol of fruit and harvest and we gaze on it knowing that we will once again create such bounty.  There are eight candles burned during Hanukah, the holiday that is also known as the Festival of Lights.  We must ritualize the Winter Solstice this weekend in any way that feels inspiring.

The fact that Venus, the Heart Center, is going retrograde that day is a beautiful synchronicity.  We are going on a deep inward journey to find the light within.  There is no mistaking the fact that while Venus is retrograde, she will disappear below the horizon where she has been the evening star these past months.  Eventually, she will emerge again on the other side of the horizon as the morning star, but only after a journey to the underworld when she is out of view.  Truly, you can’t make this stuff up.

Yesterday, I received an email from one of my readers who lives in Australia asking me to please explain a little bit about their experience of the Summer Solstice, for they are the mirrored polarity of us in the northern hemisphere.  Their moment of the new season beginning is Sunday December 22nd at 4:00am.

I was really struck by several things when asked about this.  First, how great it is that there is truly no such thing as separation.  While in the north we are experiencing the shortest day, the south is moving through the longest.  How can there be any separation if We Are the Sun and the Earth and we are having the shortest day AND longest day this Saturday?  It’s all just a matter of perspective.

The other thing that struck me is the way in which consciousness expands.  Not only is there a Summer Solstice in the southern hemisphere this weekend, because of how connected the world is these days, we are VERY MUCH AWARE that there is a Summer Solstice that is simultaneous to the winter experience here.  As our consciousness expands, it becomes easier to contain these polarities.  This is how the illusion of separation gets healed.  The world is still binary.  Up is still set up against the backdrop of down.  In is still not out.  However, WE get bigger; big enough to remember that though the day is shortest, somewhere it is longest.  And We Are both.  And the only distance between us and the Light is a little patience and the passage of not so much time.

Thanksgiving Ought To Go Pretty Well This Year!

We can’t really talk about what is happening over the Thanksgiving holiday without taking a look at what we are just emerging from.  The months of October and November were jam packed with an enormous number of astrological transits that were designed to generate change and transformation.  This is more infrequent than you might imagine.  The movement of planets and their geometrical interactions are what life itself is made of.  Many of those movements are very intense and when they happen out there, they are happening inside of us as well.  We all know what intensity feels like, but intensity and change are not the same thing.

What has made this past few months different is the element of transformation being added to the crucible by virtue of aspects designed to create change.  The eclipses created change.  Mercury’s retrograde created change.  All of the action taking place in the sign of Scorpio created change, for that is what the archetype of Scorpio is all about.  We are in different territory than where we started in the beginning of October and in some ways, the first day of our journey in that new territory starts just before Thanksgiving Day.

Mercury’s movement has been the greatest part of The Six Weeks Of Scorpio.  When we are in proper alignment, we move from our Hearts, but we navigate with our Mind and that is Mercury’s domain.  When he goes retrograde, we are actively integrating everything we are learning.  This past retrograde cycle was a powerful recalibration between the Mind and the Heart, with the Heart opening up to levels we have never before accessed.  As Mercury has spent the last few weeks going over the territory he has recently covered for the third time, we have been making sense of everything we have been learning and we are just about ready to step into the brand new territory we have been creating.  The moment that marks that shift is the end of the old Mercury cycle and the beginning of the next one.

Mercury enters a brand new cycle next Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving.  This happens like clockwork as part of every Mercury cycle and we enjoy roughly two months of free and clear sailing before he prepares to do the whole thing all over again.  This is significant in terms of Thanksgiving because just as we are gathering with the family, we are starting out a brand new journey.  That new territory is the stuff of some very deep work at the level of conscious awareness that we have been up to recently.  It can’t help but show up as new ways of communicating and interacting and what better place to test that out than around the family table.

This is taken to an extremely yummy level by virtue of two aspects he makes on his very first day of the new cycle.  On the 27th, Mercury will Sextile Venus and Trine Jupiter.  That means that our Minds and Hearts will be working together in total productivity and in complete harmony with the energy that brings the greatest sensations of joy and expansion (Jupiter).  This is a perfect setup for the transit between Venus and Jupiter themselves that follows on the 28th.

Mercury can’t interact with Venus and Jupiter unless they are also connecting.  In this case, Venus and Jupiter are opposing each other and Mercury simply splits that 180 degree polarity into two beautiful sections; the 60 degree angle (productivity) with Venus and the 120 degree angle (harmony) with Jupiter.  This opposition is exact on Thanksgiving Day.  With the planet of Love and the planet of Abundance holding the tension of opposites, something is bound to happen.  What that something is is likely to be loving and expansive.  Mercury’s involvement the day before (and remember, there is precious little difference between yesterday today and tomorrow as the veil continues to thin) points to conversations and thought patterns to be the driving force behind what is possible.

This is absolutely a set up to have a different, more loving experience of your world on Thanksgiving.   The fact that the Sun will Inconjunct the South Node brings with it the opportunity to truly release things from the past.  For the emotional timbre of the day itself, the Libra Moon will inject harmony and peace as the central theme.  Forgiveness and Love are available, should you be willing and able to step into that.

Now, lest it all sound like the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie version of this, let me point out a few things that round out the picture a bit.  All of this peacefulness is offset by the lunar aspects of the day which are agitated enough to manufacture the drama that many families will need just in order to be who they truly are.  An Opposition to Uranus brings plenty of sparks.  A Square to Pluto is sure to allow for big power struggles.  A Sesqui-Square to Neptune is enough to bring up all sorts of hidden challenges.  Add Free Will into the mix and if your life still includes drama, there is plenty of fodder to create some.

If you have been doing your inner work of late, however, you will not be able to see it in the same way; I assure you of that.   And when one person stays grounded in the Heart, it lifts everyone else up.  And while that can be very challenging to do especially when family dynamics are present, it has never been more possible for miracles to happen.  Start with Gratitude and you can’t go wrong.

The Moon will be in Aries all day today, bringing a fiery energy to the day that will be very different than the past few days of Piscean flow. There is no Void today, so the day is decidedly action oriented. Often the best use of the Aries Moon is to be active. This is especially true when the transits are, as they are today, more friction than flow.

Venus makes a beautiful Trine to the South Node which allows us to heal elements of our past issues at a Kharmic level, as the South Node relates to both our personal past AND our Kharmic journey. Given that we are still inside this very intense pattering of The Six Weeks of Scorpio, such a transit is an important element of that. When the Heart looks upon the past with a loving gaze, we are more apt to move into forgiveness. This is especially true under this transit if what is troubling us today is caused by issues from our yesterday.

Venus is on her way to a meeting with Pluto and that is a major part of the alchemy of this time. And though today’s aspect is not a huge one, everything Venus is up to these days is leading toward this Conjunction which is part of the buildup to the Full Moon on Sunday. We are still in the wormhole and are being taken into territory we have never been before, especially where the Heart is concerned. Today may be subtle, but it can be an important step into the future we are creating.

The Moon will Square Venus today, and that means that the energy that generates our events (the Moon) is acting on the planet that is engaged in a
process. As I just explained, this process is a healing of past issues. The Square from the Moon will provide us all with the perfect circumstances through which to do this healing. Be on the lookout for conflicts or obstacles that allow you to move into growth.

Given how close Venus and Pluto are to each other, if the Moon Squares Venus today, she also Squares Pluto. A Moon Pluto Square brings up issues of power and authority. These two squares together are serving up some confrontations designed to bring us more in touch with our Hearts in the face of The Shadow. The Shadow is where everything scary, unpleasant and disowned lives. This is Pluto’s domain. Pouring the healing power of the Heart into the Shadow is how all integration takes place.

The Moon will also Conjunct Uranus today, adding an element to day of unexpected possibilities. Keep on your toes. Everything that happens this week is moving us toward the Full Moon on Sunday, so while this is a relatively quiet day in the scope of things, it is still part of the major ongoing process that we are engaged in.
