There is a very big transit that is exact December 12, 2013 and bears some deep consideration as part of something we began this past summer. The Trine between Jupiter and Saturn is exact for the second of three times. The first was in the height of the Grand Water Trine on July 17th. The third pass will be on May 24th of next year. Such a stretch of interaction makes this a fairly long cycle and an important one. It should not be considered for the exact dates, but as significant turning points in a particular journey that we are on with emphasis in the weeks leading up to and following the pivot points.
To grasp the meaning of this journey, let’s begin our look at this by exploring the foundational archetypes that are being activated by this geometry. We start with the planets involved. Jupiter and Saturn are actually intrinsically bound together by a distinction that only they share. They are the Social Planets, which is different from the Personal Planets of the inner solar system that connect to our individual sensibilities (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) and the Outer Planets that represent our higher consciousness (Neptune, Uranus and Pluto). These are the two archetypes of our interactions with each other at the community level and how we move about socially and globally. They each take half of this equation where Jupiter rules expansion and abundance and Saturn dictates contraction and restriction. Saturn is the Teacher and Jupiter is the Reward.
When Saturn moves around the cosmos, we are engaged in the life lessons that our Kharma dictates. Jupiter’s movement brings joy, good fortune and prosperity. Life offers us both and our best experience comes when the two sides to this equation are working in tandem in a balanced way. The harmonic energy of the Trine (120 degree triangle) is the easiest way for any two energies to interact. And since we are often confounded by how to navigate these two very different sensibilities, this long acting Trine is very helpful to us in this terribly challenging time. I’d go so far as to say it is this very aspect that has made getting through the past six months even possible without losing our minds. What we are learning and the benefit we are receiving have actually been working together in balanced and harmonious way, even when it doesn’t seem that way.
Saturn is in Scorpio and Jupiter is in Cancer and this adds great texture to the process we are in. Scorpio is all about change, transformation and alchemy. Saturn is about responsibility. Taken together, we are being asked to step up to taking responsibility for our own ability to manifest. Cancer is all about nurturing and self-care and Jupiter is about abundance. This combination asks us to put ourselves and our needs as primary, and while this includes boundaries and freedom from codependence, the real charge here is to put our spiritual practice above all else in our daily living. When we do this, Jupiter assures us great blessing as a result.
The power of this cycle is this: As we take responsibility for the idea that we live in a world of our own making, we are blessed with the power to manifest anything we desire. I am not talking about “things” here, though we can certainly manifest things if we want them. I am speaking into the notion that we must take responsibility for our part in every interaction and truly live from the principle that we are the creators of our world and that everything we see is a reflection of the consciousness within us. Change that consciousness within and the outsides cannot help but respond and shift accordingly. One of my favorite prayers is (with apologies to my New York Jew Mother), “Seek first the kingdom within and all else will be added unto you.”
Part of what this transit has to offer is an opportunity to begin thinking about Love from the perspective of the blockages to it. Typically people tend to live in their own heartache, seeing Love through the lens of where it is not. When we feel Love lacking it is because we have moved out of our own Center. At any moment, you can stop the flow of life, close your eyes, put a hand on your heart, take a deep breath and return to the center of your being once again. Do this any time you feel like Love is somewhere else. Love is right where you are.
The invitation here is to see life more from the Jupiter side of things that the Saturn side. Remember that as we take responsibility for ourselves, our responses and especially our actions, we are rewarded. Remember too, that Love and Forgiveness are their own reward.
